Skåne and food are synonymous, and there are many culinary traditions that the people of Skåne are rightly proud of; food festivals such as the eel festival and Mårten Gås (goose) are annual events and we love our special egg dish, pan fried herring and spit baked egg cake.

Food and beverages that are peculiar to Ystad include smoked Ystad sausage, fresh beer – it is traditionally made in a half timbered house in the centre of town, and the cheese from Marsvinsholm Herrgård.

Our restaurants are our ambassadors for dishes from Skåne. The culinary experien-ces reflect new thinking and tradition. Most restaurants use locally produced ingredients – the natural link from the land to the table.

The restaurants, farm shops, hotels and grocers that boast Regional Culinary Heritage membership are particularly careful to use local ingredients as they prepare their menus.
