Prize-winning restaurants and cafes

And the winner is....

Skåne and good food are synonymous. Several exciting restaurants are to be found in Ystad – and somehave even earned prestigious  awards.


Sveriges bästa bord (a culinary comit-tee) elected Olof Viktors in Glemmingebro: patisserie of the Year 2006. it was also topranked in 2007.

Gourmet restaurant Mötesplats Österlen was also chosen as a ’gold’ restaurant in 2007 by the same comittee.

One reason for their awards is the popularity of two of their chefs, Anders Vendel and Håkan Olsson.

Anders was a Chef of the Year finalist in 2003 and 2004 as well as Olympics  medallist in 2000 and Olympic gold medal winner in 2004.

Håkan won the bronze medal in Sweden in 2005 and was Junior Chef of the Year in the international competition held in Australia in 2006.

More acclaimed restaurants

In 2007 the ”White Guide” put Mötesplats Österlen in the Swedish Master Class and listed Skafferiet – Gastronomi på Österlen in Kåseberga and Restaurant  Store Thor on Stortorget in Ystad as two good addresses; the latter one is housed in Sweden’s oldest town court cellar.
